1, 2, THREE

by SparklingStill on September 06, 2012

I love the look of Japanese cosmetic brand THREE which refers to the three keywords that describe THREE’s fundamental values: natural, honest and creative, thus the name THREE.  Creative Director is the innovative make-up artist extraordinaire, Rie Omoto.

The brands website says it honours the bounty of nature by using natural ingredients whenever possible. It is honest about its ingredients, allowing no genetically modified products, artificial scents or colours.

Now I've not used this brand before, but I have to admit the ingredients and philosophy do sound interesting. So, if anybody has sampled or is already a fan, please do let me know as I'd love to hear feedback on this range.

G'day AUM Organics

by SparklingStill on June 06, 2012

We love most of the products from Australian beauty brand AUM Organics, but I have to say, the AUM Brightening Face Balm is absolutely brilliant.

Containing powerful botanical extracts, such as Green Tea, Kudzu and Cherry, along with their signature marine complex from seaweed which contains an active called Fucoidans.

The process of bio-fermenting the marine complex enriches it with antioxidants and vitamins with the resulting brew full of boosted actives that help inhibit and slow down the skin’s degrading process by preventing the break down of elastin and hylaouric acid while promoting the production of collagen.

Free from parabens, sulphates, mineral oils, silicones, petrochemicals, artificial colours and are never, ever tested on animals. AUM Organics has also recieved certification from EcoCert for it's entire product range.

Key ingredients:

Marine Complex has been clinically proven to even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Green Tea is a potent antioxidant to repair and protect the skin against free radical damage, inhibit collagen breakdown and protect skin against photo damage.

Kudzu helps to protect the connective tissue and improve skin tone and firmness.

Cherry contains high concentration of Vitamin C to provide strong antioxidant support and stimulate collagen synthesis for firmer looking skin.

Armed and fragrant

by SparklingStill on April 14, 2012

Genius perfumer, Frédéric Malle's latest offering are his Perfume Gun Room Fragrances, originally inspired by the success of a custom scent he created for the guest rooms at Manhattan’s Mark Hotel. Further experimentation at his apartment allowed Frédéric to choose the best scents and to refine their concentrations for this new format.

Although bottled in grey industrial sprays, they still manage to look tres chic. With two settings; one for a more direct spray and another with a diffused jet, much like a mist. Simply pull the trigger as many times as you wish to scent your space.

Bottled in five beautiful scents, each of which has been composed by the following famous perfumers:

1er Mai by Dominique Ropion
Café Society by Carlos Benaïm
Jurassic Flower by Carlos Benaïm
Rosa Rugosa by Carlos Benaïm,
Russian Nights by Sophia Grosjman

Anyone?

by SparklingStill on March 12, 2012

Bored of fruit flavoured lip balms?

Well, there is, erm, an alternative. Cue Nacho's Cheese Flavoured Lip Balm. Hmmm, sounds very soothing. After a generous coating of this, its fair to say that it leaves your lips a rather fetching Nacho Cheese colour.

Although personally we're not convinced looking like you've had a fight with a packet of Nacho's is going to win you many admirers, for those of you amongst us who fancy getting all cheesy with your big bad self, I'm guessing this lip balm may be perfect.

Look Lively!

by SparklingStill on February 16, 2012

If you haven't already noticed, we're a little obsessed with beauty. So, when we saw this picture of Blake Lively today with neon pink lips, well, it's fair to say we all got very excited and wanted Blakes cool lips too. So we all bundled into our stock cupboard, with the brief of trying to find a similar colour. One of us came out triumphant, clasping LAQA&CO's new Fat lip Pencil in Lamb Chop up high. Gosh, what a relief. Now let the fun of application and pouting across the office at each other begin.

Hair Salvation

by SparklingStill on February 15, 2012

I think its a safe assumtion to say that everyone wants healthy, shiny, bobbing against your shoulder type hair, but it's not always attainable in Winter months. However, don't despair, help is at hand with Evo Ritual Salvation, a high quality salon conditioner.

Superbly rich, but not too heavy, it helps to repair, detangle, strengthen and protect hair, so haphazard, stressed out locks can be a thing of the past.

Whatever else the elements may throw at your hair, rest assured that a fistful of this in the shower will transform your barnet into a billowing lioness mane. Rooaaar!

Help officer!

by SparklingStill on January 26, 2012

Officer: Ma'am, are you ok, you look visibly shaken. Can you tell me what happened?

Me: I ... I ... was expertly applying my make-up, when a svelte, ninja like figure came from nowhere and snatched my polka-dot make-up bag from me. I have to say, it was very naughty of them.

Officer: Can you describe the contents of your make-up bag?

Me: Oh all the usual suspects, a chic shimmer stick and a very grown-up, pink-tinged blusher. I had however, just the best mascara for super-thick, swishy lashes. Model Co Fibre Lash. New technology nylon fibres that help to achieve high-impact length, whilst Bees Wax and Carnauba Wax help to keep my lashes soft and nourished. This is such an inconvenience. Sigh.

Officer, why are you walking away. I tell you, this is serious stuff. You must keep a record of this, it shows that when out of stock, ladies are prepared to do feisty, crazy things just to get at it. OFFICER!.. OFFICER!!!

Burn baby burn!

by SparklingStill on January 19, 2012

Our electricity went today, which meant we were all flailing around the office like a bunch of loonies, with nothing but the scary neon glows from our i-phones to keep us safe from harm. If only we'd had the Archipelago Monograms Candles to hand we would have been most glamourously prepared for this slight inconvenience.

If I may explain further. Large, glass votive soy wax candles that come in delicious customised scents for each letter of the alphabet: C stands for cassius and red currant. H for hyacinth and lavender. L for lemon verbena. I could go through the whole alphabet, but dinners actually ready.

Can I have that face please?

by SparklingStill on January 17, 2012

I really liked the wonderfully flattering mouths on Elle, Charlize and Jessica at the Golden Globes. We had a precise harmony of apple-blossomy pink, creamy beige and shimmery caramels smiling admiringly up that red carpet.

I'm convinced Charlotte Brontes heroines were the inspiration behind some of those looks. I also think Charlize Theron naps frequently on a bed of rose petals she always looks so uber fabulous. Sorry, I feel I have digressed...

To help achieve these Hollywood la-di-da lips, look no further than the new armour lip gloss in Gypsy. Slather it on generously and then just simply twirl around in your own spotlight. It's time to be a star.
